No Never Mind

The dog is sniffing out bunnies again, criss-crossing in circles, his muzzle all wet

While a hummingbird shoots past his head like a bullet

Which he pays no never mind to

Across the grass there’s a stalking crow trotting across the grass in rows

like she’s mowing the lawn, only yanking and picking at her breakfast below the dandelion leaves

and a hawk is perched in the tree, just watching

Which she pays no never mind to

Meanwhile

a woman is lieing with another treasuring kindess and thinking she made all the wrong choices back then

while her children are mothered by others, we hope

and the dishes pile up and the kids get to school

which she pays no never mind to.
