Pour the sea

Crack open the ocean
drop it
into my heart
drip
by darling drip

pool up
the salt
on my skin
I’ve lost
so much
weight from
weeping

across this
desert
of
failed
kindness

I’m counting the hills
and valleys
I’ve wandered
looking
for
a tree
some rabbit brush
a cloud

and relieved
I have
a thickness in my heart
I can squeeze into
far cooler
than this
clime

a comforting blanket
that shuts out
the racket
of
“more”
“no – less”
“no – more”

pour the sea
into
me
is my only prayer
